James Duncan practices personal injury and family law in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He is licensed to practice in both North and South Carolina. He also serves as guardian ad litem in both family court and probate court.

James Duncan was born and raised in York County, South Carolina. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wofford College [in 2004] and his law degree from Charlotte School of Law [in 2011]. After law school, James served as judicial law clerk for the Honorable Daniel D. Hall and worked in several law firms in the Mecklenburg and York County, prior to forming Duncan Legal LLC. Today, his office is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and serves York, Mecklenburg, and their surrounding counties in North and South Carolina.

Throughout his career, James has devoted his time fighting for injured clients and those clients going through divorce and custody battles. Working to help injured clients for years, he has gained priceless experience learning the ins and outs of how insurance companies handle injury claims. James’ experience has led him to earn the accolade of *Top 40 Under 40 with the National Trial Lawyers.

While James has been very successful in resolving most injury cases by settlement, he also has experience litigating cases. James has handled all types of personal injury cases, including traumatic brain injury by auto accidents, wrongful death, DUI wrecks, dog bites, slip and falls, as well as the more common auto accidents. James also has significant experience handling family law cases in and out of court, including divorce, child custody and visitation, setting and modifying child support and alimony, adoption, and dividing marital assets and debts. Additionally, James serves the family court as a Guardian ad Litem and assists parties with settling their issues as a board-certified mediator.

Throughout the attorney-client relationship, James Duncan helps educate his clients and obtain the benefits they are entitled to under North and South Carolina law while providing a high level of compassion and service to his clients. By helping his clients recover from unexpected and life-changing accidents and family issues, James connects with each client by helping them receive the best outcome and move forward with their lives.

James now lives in Charlotte with his wife, Ashley, and their dog, Weezie. James is active in community service. He has served on the boards of the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen and Cultural Heritage Museums of York County, and he is an active contributor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and participant in the Trailblaze Challenge. In his free time, James is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, camping, and fishing. James believes his personal life experiences provide great training for his legal expertise and success. His experiences have afforded him opportunities to sharpen his creativity and adaptability skills in problem solving as he addresses new and unique situations.
